In 2020 alone, approximately 220 million tonnes of municipal waste was generated in Europe. The same is true for industrial ones. According to statistics, nearly 18 million tonnes are processed annually in our western neighbours. And this has been the trend for years. Although technology is developing, there is still a lack of solutions to reduce the production of waste. This benefits the transport industry, which is key to recycling as it ensures that products are quickly delivered to recyclers. And after they have been processed and given a new life, someone has to get them to the recipients. And this is where the transport.
Of course, we must not forget the regulations. These include Regulation 1013/2006 and the Basel Convention. In order for the transport of waste to be carried out in accordance with the law, it must be carefully documented. This is very important, as improperly completed paperwork can lead to high financial penalties running into thousands or even millions of euros.
So how do you make money in transport? The risks of transporting rubbish are high, but this also has its advantages. Given that it is necessary to transport the pollutants, their generators are able to pay really good money to get them to where they are treated.

Anyone transporting waste from abroad will be subject to separate regulations depending on the country and must comply with certain rules. In most cases, it is necessary to obtain a waste transport permit. The rules for obtaining this are quite complex and require the preparation of a number of documents. It is a complex process and requires careful preparation. Therefore, it is best to use a company that has extensive experience in this field. This will not only save time, but also money. The lack of such a permit exposes the haulier to serious financial losses.
Our country has also made the necessary provisions. Both for local transport and for transport that starts abroad and ends in Poland. These include the SENT platform (Electronic Transport Surveillance System). It was established to better monitor the movement of various goods, including waste. If you are planning to transport e.g. waste paper from Germany to Poland - remember - registration in SENT is mandatory! Otherwise, importing waste to Poland may cost you dearly.
When running a transport company you also need to bear in mind KOBIZE reports. Compliance with the requirements of the National Balancing and Emissions Management Centre is your legal obligation. However, it can also be a way to highlight your company's commitment to environmental protection.
